Smart's turbocharged three and four-cylinder engines offer ECU tuning potential that belies the vehicle's compact dimensions. The ForTwo with 0.9T and 1.0T engines responds to Stage 1 with noticeably improved throttle response and low-end torque.
The Smart ForTwo and ForFour with the 0.9 TCe turbo three-cylinder deliver +15–25 Nm in Stage 1 — a significant proportional improvement for these lightweight city cars. The Roadster with its older architecture requires bench-side tuning.
Smart ECU tuning uses Renault/Brabus-compatible tools depending on generation. OBD access is standard on modern three-cylinder models. All calibrations are fully reversible.
